Castle of Miramare - Trieste

The Castle of Miramare was the palace of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Hapsburg and of his wife Carlotta from Belgium.

The castle was built in an enchanting location, on a Carsic rocky promontory pushing out to the gulf of Trieste. This wonderful historical dwelling was built between 1856 and 1860 for want of the Archduke Maximilian of Austria: he stood over the preparation of the 22 hectares park that surround the castle, of the English and the Italian garden, adorned by rare plants, sculptures and small lakes.

The palace has more than 20 rooms and you can visit them all through a fixed itinerary: across the ground floor and the first floor, you can admire the luxurious original decors of the boardrooms and the private chambers rich in pieces of art, furniture and precious objects.

Our staff will be pleased to help you organize your tour to Trieste.
